Pendlay Nexgen Barbell – Bushing Class
The Pendlay Nexgen bushing barbell is the first and last barbell you will ever have to buy. Perfect for anything from power-lifting to Olympic lifting, this Pendlay barbell is a beast and more than capable of handling any amount of weight you can load on it. We really like the Pendlay Nexgen barbell because it has all of the features we look for in a really high quality barbell, THEN it adds features not found on any competing barbell to turn it into a bulletproof beast that never needs maintenance and never needs to be replaced. Check out these features:
- 28.4mm diameter
- Moderate whip (flex)
- Dual bushing design inside single piece collar (only company in world to use single piece collar)
- Gel lubriant inside each collar to ensure no leaking hydraulic fluid
- Bright zinc coating. This coating absorbs into the steel, which greatly reduces the chances of chipping and keeps the bar looking like new for a long time.
- Olympic knurling. Excellent knurling with distinct enter/exit points, no fade or cheese grater knurl
- Extremely strict weight and dimension standards
- 166,000 PSI tensile strength. Perfect balance between strength/stiffness and whip

Pendlay Barbell also tests these bars by putting them up on blocks and applying 3500 lbs of pressure on the center. They always return to center, and Pendlay says they have never had a bar returned due to bending. Last but not least, Pendlay Barbell makes their bars in the U.S.A. and they come with a lifetime performance guarantee. If you take your lifting seriously and want a piece of equipment that will never let you down and never need to be replaced, a Pendlay barbell is the barbell for you. Check it out here
Pendlay Nexgen Barbell – Bearing Class
The Pendlay Nexgen bearing barbell is quite possibly the ultimate barbell for those of you who take your Olympic lifting seriously or like to compete. The Pendlay bearing bar has some of the smoothest spinning sleeves you can get, which helps protect your wrists when you snap the barbell up overhead. The Pendlay Nexgen bearing bar is similar to the bushing bar, with a few exceptions designed to appeal to those who compete:
- 28mm diameter (Olympic regulation diameter)
- Five high-speed bearings in each collar
The Pendlay Nexgen bearing bar is also made in the USA and carries the same great warranty as the bushing barbell.
Either one of the Pendlay Nexgen barbells will serve you well, and we feel strongly that a high quality barbell is one of the best investments you can make in your gym. Almost no other piece of equipment will get as much use, or take as much abuse if you do Olympic lifting. Take a look here.
Bearings vs. Bushings – What’s the Difference? Bearings spin much easier, and therefore if you are a competitive Olympic lifter bearing bars are where it’s at since you can snap your wrists up with much less resistance. For the vast majority of us, a bushing bar will be just fine.
