Best Squat Racks

Powerline PSS60X Squat Rack

The PowerLine PSS60X Squat Rack gets our Bronze award.
Don’t have a lot of money? Don’t plan on lifting over 400 lbs? You’ve come to the right place.  This level is for someone looking to start off on the right foot.

The PowerLine PSS60X Squat Rack is what you need to get the job done.  It can adjust to perform several different exercises.  You can do squats of course, but it’s also useful as a resting place for the bar after some presses, curls, upright rows or any other exercise that you can think of it can help you perform. Like all the products we recommend, it is made with heavy gauge steel, and this particular stand has a 10 year warranty.  Another great feature with this squat rack is you can set a bench underneath it to perform a bench press too. This Squat Rack has great reviews everywhere we’ve looked. Best Squat Rack Pendlay

Pendlay Elite Squat Rack

The Pendlay Elite squat rack is a tank. This thing ships fully assembled in one big welded piece of steel that’s capable of handling any amount of weight (over 1,000 lbs). This is the best squat rack for the big boys and the commercial gyms. Its features include teflon coated bar catches to protect your bar’s knurling, and thermal powder coating that melts into the metal for added resistance to chipping and flaking. As you can see from the picture, there is a lot of depth to the rack as well which means you don’t have to worry about your shins coming up against the supports like you would with the cheaper Powerline squat rack. Lastly, this squat rack is made in the USA in South Carlina. Check it out here

Best Squat Rack | Body Solid GPR370

The Body Solid Multi-Press Rack GPR370 just edges out the Pendlay Elite rack because of the added features it has. This is another beastly rack that can handle whatever weight you need to move (up to 1,000 lbs). However, it comes with 2 features that the Pendlay lacks. 1)Spotter bars for added safety if you can’t get out of the hole on a squat, and; 2) Pegs for plate storage. This feature alone is worth over $100 since that’s about the minimum that a decent weight tree will run you. Check out the best squat rack we recommend here

Want a Squat Rack or a Power Rack?

A power rack is arguably the best choice for working out at home with a barbell. They are fully enclosed and offer the most safety for exercises like squats and presses. Even the best squat rack isn’t as safe or useful as a power rack. A good power rack should be able to handle close to 1000 lbs on the spotter bars. Racks have many different options and can often be customized with plate holders, different chin up bars, lat pull downs, dip bars, and many other attachments. All the power racks we recommend come with a chin up bar which is perfect for pull-ups.  However, we list every squat rack above, because some people are tight on space, cash, or do Olympic lifts.
