Kraiburg Bumper Plates and Hi Temp Bumper Plates Why Should You NOT Buy Them

I have used nearly every bumper plate in existence, so I am fairly confident when it comes to evaluating bumper plates on a few different principles. These factors include hardness, bounce, durability, price, accuracy, odor and more.

First, the Kraiburg bumper plates are fairly hard, so they get a good review to start. The Hi Temp bumper plates on the other hand don’t get a good review in this department. I have personally used these and they bounce very high. You can find them at a few different distributors, including Rogue Fitness bumper plates, but we advise against buying them. Another thing, for Olympic lifters, Crossfitters, and almost every lifter… These bounce a lot which can be a problem. They do work for you, which is a problem in Crossfit. Also, I was in a competition where I had to use them outside and they hit a small rivet and bounced hard back into my shins. Not fun. Also, for Olympic lifters, these would be some of the worst bumper plates to buy in our opinion, because of the high bounce.

Kraiburg bumper plates and Hi Temp bumper plates

The durability of these bumper plates are both pretty good on an Olympic bar. The thicker ones, 25lb and up, should last you a pretty long time.

The price on the Kraiburg bumper plates are pretty high. You can find better deals on the bumper plates we list on the front page, which include free shipping. The Hi Temp bumper plates are similarly priced to the Pendlay bumper plates listed on the front page, but Rogue Fitness adds shipping costs if you live outside of the white zone (east half of the U.S.). Another thing to consider, is they don’t give away much information in the way of what specifically your bumper plate will be like. While the Pendlay bumper plates still keep their high standards, like weight tolerance and accuracy, for the same price.

Many people have complained about the odor on the Kraiburg bumper plates on Amazon reviews, although we can‘t confirm it. The only thing I have noticed with the Hi Temp bumper plates is that they come a little slippery.

Given all of this information, it shouldn’t be too hard to see why we recommend only the Pendlay bumper plates on the front page. We like to recommend the best bumper plates using all of these variables. Review them yourself, and make a good investment.
